Biography

Michael has been practicing law in Raleigh since 1998, bringing a wealth of experience and insight to every client he serves. Prior to joining Pinna, Johnston & Burwell, P.A., he owned and operated his own law practice for over 25 years, where he built a strong reputation for his thoroughness, understanding his clients’ goals, and interest in his clients’ transactions.
 
Michael’s practice focuses primarily on commercial real estate transactions, business and corporate transactions, including entity formations, and business sales and purchases, estate planning and administration, and trusts for firearms, including firearms regulated by the federal National Firearms Act (the “NFA”). He is known for his client-first approach, taking the time to get to know his clients and creating long-term relationships with them. He is committed to clear communication, practical
solutions, and advocating for his clients’ best interests at every stage of the legal matters he handles.
 
A Raleigh native, Michael earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (BSBA – 1995), and went on to earn his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law (J.D. – 1998). Michael also attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1989, as a member of Troop 214 in Raleigh. He is proud to serve clients throughout the Raleigh area and beyond with professionalism, integrity, and care. Michael has two children that live in Raleigh: Haley and Parker. Michael enjoys spending time with his family and friends, cooking, good food and the outdoors.
